broom broom Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 tried that the then put my hand in and tried to open the door i can open the door but the car stays silent :D Quote
mumof4 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I know that if one of the doors is slightly open on our car and you lock it..the alarm will go off.. Quote
broom broom Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 Nope that didn't work either :D Quote
mumof4 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Have to give it a few mins....have you got a manual locking car or press a button thingy??? Quote
mumof4 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 button thingy i guess...could always lock the car and give the kids 10 mins to get out????or get them to rock it from the inside???failing that..whack it!! :D :D Quote
mumof4 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Right..i have a mk2..have you got interior sensors???just having a look in my book and if the interior sensors detect movement in a locked car....it may/should go off....the alarm takes 30 seconds to arm from locking the car Quote
strouf Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I think the car comes with an alarm that doesn't have interior volume sensors. This means that the alarm will go off only when car is moved/crashed or any of the doors open. Easy to check if there are sensors in the cabin...Otherwise try shaking the car.... Quote
mumof4 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 i know mine has interior sensors and if i lock the kids in the car (not that i do)((..just had to see))).....and wen i tell em to move,,the alarm goes off!! Quote
bigdaddy Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 There is not a 2.3 V6,,,,,,,,only the ghia came with an alarm fitted as standard IIRC,,,,, Quote
Davetheref Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Best way is lock the car with someone inside. Always used to work with the kids  :D Quote
broom broom Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 the car has sensors inside one at the front one at the back still can't get it to go off though :D Quote
NikpV Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 the car has sensors inside one at the front one at the back still can't get it to go off though :D what year is it - there is a change at 98 on tis - for both post and pre 1998 the interior scanners are on to of the B-pillar Quote
NikpV Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 car needs to be double-locked for the alarm to be activated Quote
tiny Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 The most basic alarm systems (often the ones supplied OEM) only sense electrical current changes. I cant speak from experience with a galaxy as my Mk1 has a retro fitted laserline, but try locking the car with an open window and then reaching inside and operating some of the electrical equipment. On other fords there is a secondary horn that operates as a siren. This means you get an intermittent horn signal rather than a proper siren. This is always a secondary horn out of reach from under the engine compartment so that wires can not be pulled to silence the alarm. Obviously the VW influence with the "Sharalaxy" may make all the above information useless! tiny Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Sorry, my info, just rambling really! Have you set it off yet? Quote
NikpV Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 What happens to the LED when you lock the door  The alarm system is automatically activated or deactivated when either of the front doors or tailgate are locked or unlocked by the mechanical key or remote control. The tailgate anti-theft alarm inhibit switch prevents the alarm from sounding when an entry is made using the vehicle key in the tailgate during the armed state; the system is not disarmed. The alarm system can be armed only if: The ignition is off.All the doors are closed. The engine hood is closed. The tailgate is closed. The central locking motors are locked. The red LED indicator flashes at one second intervals when the double locking is initiated. Then the armed status by flashing at a low frequency. Quote
bigdaddy Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Are the sensors you looking at,(one at the front / one at the rear),,,are they like little domes, for your remote locking,,,,,,,,,,if your alarm dont work ,,,,,, is it fitted with an alarm :) Quote
